Highlights

  • Malbork Castle is a symbol of the 150-year reign of the grand masters of the Teutonic Knights, as well as the past residence of Polish kings and German emperors.
  • Malbork Castle is the third largest castle in Poland after Wawel Royal Castle in Cracow and Książ Castle in Wałbrzych.
  • On the castle grounds, there are medieval siege engines: a siege tower with a height of 15 meters and a 13-meter-high trebuchet, i.e. a ranged weapon that could fling a bullet weighing up to 25 kilograms! Another interesting exhibit is the battering ram, whose task was to destroy the gates and walls. To protect the machine against fire, people placed wet animal skins on its top.
  • The siege of Malbork is an annual re-enactment of the Polish attempt to take the fortress in 1410 during the medieval Polish-Teutonic war. The main goal of this event is education through fun and entertainment.
  • Magic Malbork – In August, for one night, the city becomes a magical stage on which theatre performances, concerts and shows of dance and acrobatics are presented. The event combines history with modern features of laser shows.
  • Walking around Malbork, you can find three stones with coins in them. They are reminders of the mint located in Malbork, which manufactured Polish and Teutonic coins.
  • One of the biggest attractions in Malbork is the Dinosaur Park. The youngest guests can see moving and roaring creatures such as T-Rex, Stegosaurus, and Triceratops. If you like outdoor activities, you can test your skills in the nearby ropes course or see Żuławy Ceramic Village, famous for baking pottery.
